Interview with user: he met his girlfriend in Taptrip!

For today`s post I made an interview with Christian Comia, a Taptrip user from Batangas, Philippines. While many people meet new friends in Taptrip, Christian is got more than this: he met his girlfriend in Taptrip!
Although he lives in Philippines and she lives in Chile, they started a virtual relationship since September 5th. During this interview, he tells a little more about how it happened as well as other experiences regarding Taptrip.

Ivan (Taptrip): How did you and your girlfriend meet via Taptrip? During a virtual tour? Christian: No, was not during a virtual tour. She added me.
Ivan (Taptrip): Did you decide where you will meet in person for the first time?  Christian: Yes. I want to go to Chile.
Ivan (Taptrip): Have you met any other friends in Taptrip? Where are they from? Christian: Yes. I've a friend from Hungary and a friend from Armenia. 
Ivan (Taptrip): Could you tell what you learnt from the cultural exchange via Taptrip? Christian: I like different culture, it's very nice. I learnt to respect each other and other persons' traditions. 
Ivan (Taptrip): How would you recommend Taptrip to a friend who does not use it yet? Christian: I recommended them to install Taptrip to know different cultures and different countries.

8 traditional events in Philippines that you can not miss out!

If you wanna go to many events and festivals during the whole year, Philippines is the right place. The Taptripper Christian Comia attended to one organized by your friends called "The Champion" which symbolizes the fight between Jesus ans Satan. 

According to him, it's very common to have catholic events in there, but many other festivals are held too. Here you can check 8 great ones you cannot miss when you go there:
1) Dinagyang: spectacle held in January and characterized by a frenetic stomping of feet and hypnotic drumbeating. It is a colorful whirl of thousands of people dressed in unique costumes dancing and chanting all day and night.

2) Feast of Our Lady of Candles: the biggest and most opulent religiuos pageanty in Western Visayas, it's celebrated in February. The blessing of candles and the yearly procession of the patroness, the Nuestra Senora de Candelaria is followed by the fiesta queen and her court which highlights the celebration.

3) Moriones Festival: One of the most famous of Philippine festivals, held in April. Colorfully garbed and masked as Roman soldiers and centurions, locals reenact the life of Longinus culminating in his beheading. The entire towns of Boac, Morpog and Gasan are virtually converted into huge stages as the story as Longinus unfolds.

4) Santacruzan: The Santacruzan is a procession held in May commemmorating St. Helena's finding the "True Cross"; preceded bya nine-day Novena in honor of the Holy Cross. On the ninth day, usually on a weekend, the Santacruzan is held. The Reina Elena, accompanied by a little boy representing King Constantine, and the other sagalas representing biblical characters and the attributes of the Blessed Virgin, walk under gaily decorated arches.

5) Bocaue River Festival: A famous river festival held in July in honor of the miraculous Cross of Bocaue (Krus ng Wawa). During the fluvial procession, devotees ride in the "pagoda" and douse each other with water.

6) Kadayawan sa Dabaw: A celebration of the bountiful harvests of fruits and orchids during the season in September. Activities include fruit and flower show, trade fair, tribal/civic/military parade, traditional sports activities, horsefight, Search for B'yaneng Kadayawan and street dancing.

7) United Nations Day: The Philippines is one of the signatories of the 1945 United Nation charter. The Philippines is one of the only four Asian nations who joined the charter. In October, just as the other events, everyone uses special costumes.

8) Feast of San Clemente/Higantes Festival: Angono's joyous fiesta in honor of San Clemente whose image, resplendent in papal vestment, is borne by male devotees during a procession accompanied by "pahadores (devotees dressed in colorful local costumes, wooden shoes and carrying boat paddles) and higantes" (giant paper mache effigies). In November, the street event culminates in a fluvial procession in Laguna de Bay amidst revelry that continues until the image is brought back to its sanctuary.

Having breakfast in 5 different countries. - Part 2

Last week I listed the breakfast of the main countries of Taptrip. Seems many people liked that yummy post, so now I introduce other typical breakfast of other five countries where many people are taptripping.
6) MOROCCO: a traditional moroccan breakfast has tea, khobz (moroccan bread), harcha (fried bread), khobz b'chehma (stuffed bread), krachel (sweet rolls), omelet with veggies & cream cheese, sausage & egg tagine, beghrir & msemen (pancakes).

7) COTE D'IVORE: as the breakfast can vary according to each region, I decided to introduce the foutou which seems to be the most delicious one. It's made of creamy peanut butter, peeled & chopped cassava and plantains which attributes a salty taste, but also sweet.

8) GHANA: bread is the main food of this meal, and there are many kinds of bread: tea bread, sugar bread, brown bread and butter bread. All of them can be eaten with baked food, wheat flour and cassava flour.

9) PHILIPPINES: has a big variety of aliments, like: pandesal (small bread rolls), kesong puti (white cheese), champorado (chocolate rice porridge), sinangag (garlic fried rice), meat, fish or duck eggs. Coffee is also served and has a strong flavor.

10) IRAQ: it's basically composed by egg dishes, a flat bread known as khubz, an oval-shaped bread loaf called samoon, butter, jam, honey, cheese, libna (yogurt with olive oil), date molasses and sesame paste.

PHILIPPINES: Solar light bottles, a bright idea!

What do you do with plastic bottles? Some people just throw it away, other people recycle them. But, some people from Philippines had a different and bright idea: use them as light spots!

But, how? Very simple. They only have to cut a piece of the roof and put the bottle on it. The sunlight will refracted in the bottle illuminates the whole house. Of course it only works during the day, but it's a good and sustainable improvement.

This idea has brought not just light to poor areas, but had also created new job functions. Some families work producing them on demand. The cost of each is about one dollar and the requests have been growing more and more. For this reason, they believe the bottle lights will be increased not just in poor areas, but also in developed countries.
