Interview with user: he met his girlfriend in Taptrip!

For today`s post I made an interview with Christian Comia, a Taptrip user from Batangas, Philippines. While many people meet new friends in Taptrip, Christian is got more than this: he met his girlfriend in Taptrip!

Although he lives in Philippines and she lives in Chile, they started a virtual relationship since September 5th. During this interview, he tells a little more about how it happened as well as other experiences regarding Taptrip.

Taptrip

Ivan (Taptrip): How did you and your girlfriend meet via Taptrip? During a virtual tour?
Christian: No, was not during a virtual tour. She added me.

Ivan (Taptrip): Did you decide where you will meet in person for the first time?
Christian: Yes. I want to go to Chile.

Ivan (Taptrip): Have you met any other friends in Taptrip? Where are they from?
Christian: Yes. I've a friend from Hungary and a friend from Armenia.

Ivan (Taptrip): Could you tell what you learnt from the cultural exchange via Taptrip?
Christian: I like different culture, it's very nice. I learnt to respect each other and other persons' traditions.

Ivan (Taptrip): How would you recommend Taptrip to a friend who does not use it yet?
Christian: I recommended them to install Taptrip to know different cultures and different countries.

And if you also want to know different cultures, different countries, make new friends and, who knows, find a love just as Christian did, download Taptrip for Android or iPhone and have a lot of fun!

Interview with user: he made good and loyal friends through Taptrip.

For today's post I made an interview with Nick Larson, an active user of Taptrip who lives in Rabat, Morocco. He has made countless friends with the app and found out interesting things about other cultures. Below he tells a little more about his experience.

Taptrip

Ivan (Taptrip): Which points do you like most in Taptrip?
Nick: The point that I like more in Taptrip is I can meet new people from all over the world and talk to anyone that I want to know.

Ivan (Taptrip): How many friends did you make through Taptrip?
Nick: I made a lot of good friends in Taptrip, I can't count them because they are to many. But, those are the best and loyal friends that I knew since my first time in Taptrip. It's about 10 good friends.

Ivan (Taptrip): Which countries are these friends from?
Nick: I have five friends from Japan, three from Indonesia, one from USA and one from Hong-Kong.

Ivan (Taptrip): Could you tell us something interesting regarding your Taptrip experience?
Nick: When I talk to people from different countries, I noticed that they have different ways of thinking, different ideas and different behaviors. And the most interesting thing is we can exchange our ideas, tell about our routine, share it, know more how people live in their countries.

Why the same food can taste differently in other places?

Yesterday there was a special lunch in Taptrip`s office. As we had a long meeting to discuss improvements, nothing better than something delicious to give us energy during it! As part of us wanted pizza and the other part wanted paella, we ended ordering both.

This was my first time to have european cookery in Japan. Although it was very good (the paella's rice has the right portion of salt and the sea food on it was so soft as the pizza), the taste was different of Brazil, my home country, and probably might be different of the original spanish and italian cookery.

"It tastes much better in my home place." - I am pretty sure you've heard that from someone or also said that to someone in life. But, why? Why the same food can taste differently from one place to other? I wanted to answer to this question during the conclusion of this post, but I can answer right now: because people are different and their taste for meals is different too. That's why the cookery has to be adapted according to the flavor of everybody from a specific place likes. Simple, huh?

But, some people are against it. For example: sushi - a traditional japanese meal made with rice, fish and condiments - is also prepared with strawberry, mango, kiwi and other fruits in Brazil because it's a tropical country where many people love fruits. My japanese friends always say a big "WHAT?!" every time I tell them this and complement saying "a japanese sushiman would be very upset if sees something like that!"

But, we need to accept it as something new, an opportunity to try a different flavor of something we like very much. When I went to France, was surprised to see the fritter is different of Brazil because has no chocolate cream inside. According to a friend, the japanese curry is less spicy than indian curry probably because indians are stronger for spicy food. The japanese sausage is much smaller than the argentinian one, I found it by myself when went to a latin restaurant in Tokyo...don't know if will be back someday.

New experiences are good in life, specially if they are yummy. By the way, did you already download Taptrip and has the experience of making friends in the whole world? You can also send them pictures of what you had for breakfast and lunch. Install it now and have fun!

Where did you watch the finale of Breaking Bad?

This sunday, September 29th, the last chapter of Vince Gilligan's Breaking Bad was aired. The conclusion was highly expected by fans in the whole world and it explains why the finale had 8 million viewers.

As usual, many of those viewers decided to watch the episode together in a Viewing Party. The same happened with other popular TV shows like The Sopranos, Lost or Seinfeld, many cities from US were swiped by those meetings. Check the six places where many fans went to watch the finale:

Taptrip

1) Los Angeles: Cinespia is the Hollywood’s most storied cemetery. The tickets of US$ 45 were sold out in one minute, re-sellers offered them for US$ 1000.

2) Miami: the Will Call space offered US$ 50 off discount in the bar for everyone who had a Breaking Bad inspired costume.

3) New York: the Professor Tom's store has hosted viewers of Breaking Bad in previous seasons and, this time, offered a Happy Hour and drinking game inspired in the series.

4) Philadelphia: the Old Eagle Tavern offered fried chicken and drafts inspired in the show.

5) Boston: Tommy Doyle’s in Kendall Square screened the finale on two projectors and five LCD televisions. Although the event was free, they charged a donation of US$ 5,00.

6) Albuquerque: the screening was held at Hotel Albuquerque with themed treats and libations, booths from local businesses specialized in products of the TV show.

Have you attended to one of those events? Your city had a Viewing Party too? Did you take pictures? So, upload them to Taptrip and show to the whole world how the event was held in your country.

What are you doing in your country right now?

Taptrip

September 22th (Sunday). Mike, who lives in New York, came back home just in time to watch the Emmy which started at 08h00pm. He couldn't wait to see and discuss the results with his friend Paresh who lives in India...but, he had to wait a couple of hours because was 05h30 am in New Delhi and his buddy was still sleeping.

A few hours after, Paresh woke up at 09h00am as usual to have a traditional indian breakfast: eat idli, vada and dosa coupled with chutney and sambar. At this same time, Mike was starring a view of the Big Apple from the window.

It's funny how our activities can change according to the time zone and how they can change according to each country. Mike doesn't have breakfast at same time as Paresh and probably do not eat the same thing. Paresh also cannot appreciate a night view similar to New Yorrk at same time as Mike.

Taptrip

For this reason, Taptrip wants to know what users are doing according to their time zones and the place where they live. From today on, your virtual trip`s screen will change the color if it's morning, afternoon and evening. This way, when you join or guide a tour, you can upload pictures of activities done in your country during the day and night.

Then, you can check what Paresh is eating and what Mike is staring at same time. Download Taptrip and have fun all the time!

Do you know how to use Taptrip in Android and iPhone?

After the release of iOS 7 this week, some people have asked if they can use Taptrip in iPhones which have this new operating system. Yes, you can.

Taptrip users (or just Taptrippers) are already familiarized with the app, but if you still don't have it in your mobile, you can check this tutorial and learn how to install and have a lot of fun with the app.

If you have an Android, you can download in Google Play. If you have an iPhone, you can download in App Store. The download has to be made via cell phone.

After it, you will need to install and a little tutorial will introduce the main functions of Taptrip:

- Tap to explore a big world.
- Be a guide and introduce your country. Be a traveler to make trips around the world.
- Make Trippals while traveling. Trippals are your friends around the world.
Then, you can start to Taptrip. But, one important thing: it's necessary to have a Facebook account to create yours in Taptrip.

After your account is created, you can immediately start to Taptrip and find new friends from many countries. This is a print screen of the app after the installation.

This is the menu. With these four buttons you can easily use Taptrip. The first button shows your current trip. The second button shows the timeline of other trips. The third button shows your messages, it has a Friend Finder tool to search new friends around the world and that red number means there are new messages. The fourth button shows your profile, you can also configure the setting using this same button.

And this is all you need to know to start using Taptrip. As said before, you don't need to worry about the language because all the messages are translated automatically by the app. Wish you a lot of fun and feel free to leave your feedback in the comments.

Foreigners as guides of your country: is that really unusual?

Salvador, Bahia, one of the most famous tourist destinations of Brazil. My parents went to watch a presentation of Olodum, an afro-brazilian music group which became popular in the whole world after making a video clip with Michael Jackson. After watching the show, my parents were attended by a guide who was going to tell them more details about afro-brazilian culture. They were expecting to meet someone local, but surprisingly the guide was from Netherlands and spoke a very good portuguese.

Taptrip

For some people it may be strange to have the own country introduced by a foreigner, but for other people it's not that unusual. According to Ana Gasparottostudent  of Tourism in University of São Paulo, ''people interested in knowing more about other country can end loving it''.

For her, there are many reasons why a foreigner decides to be the guide of some other country, like: the opportunity to show the country from other point of view, having a public excited to hear his / her stories or even giving something back to the country which welcomed him / her very well.

Mariano Copes is one of them. He is from Argentina, but has been living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for four years. According to him, the local geography can be the main influence when someone decides to live somewhere abroad. His cousin, for example, went to United States to be a temporary ski instructor, but liked it so much that decided to stay and guide people who go there to practice this sport.

Taptrip

So, you don't need to be a native to be a guide of somewhere. You only need to like, have a good knowledge and interest about the place.

Are you currently living abroad and would like to show how much you admire the country where you are staying in? You can be a guide in Taptrip and show it to the whole world! Many people are looking foward to read your stories too.

Introduce your country to the world!

A couple years ago I've met a traveler who went to my home country. She was from Japan and was traveling around the world alone. Everywhere she traveled to, she had to make new friends and find a way to enjoy the destination, which sometimes was hard.

Taptrip

We've met by the chance and I took her to meet many places. When her few travel days were over, she was very glad for the awesome time she had at my hometown. Actually all the places we went to (beach, parks, historic centers, etc) are just ok for me because I've lived there during my entire life, but for her everything was new and exciting. That’s when I realized there are many people in the world interested in knowing my city, my country.

And it’s just the same with your place. There are many people interested in knowing more about India, Dominican Republic, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Algeria, Cote d’Ivore, Morocco, Philippines, Ghana, Iraq, and so many others.

I have no more time to hang out with my foreigner friends so often, but I can still introduce my country to then through Taptrip app. And you can do the same. It’s very simple.

Taptrip

After you choose ‘Make a tour’, you can upload pictures and information of your country and share with people from the whole world. The same way my Asian friend was very glad to know my place, many other people will be happy in knowing yours too. So, be a Taptrip guide and introduce your country to the world.

Bus Tour: the best way to enjoy a destination!

Taptrip Paris

Paris, one of the biggest travel destination of the world. The first time I was in there, had no much time to visit everything, but a friend of mine took me to many places as the Eifel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysees. If she had no time to go there with me, another option would be taking a bus tour (like the one in the picture).

Have you already joined those tours? They are very nice! For a cheap price (at least cheaper than a regular tour), the bus takes you and other travelers to the main tourist attractions while the guide tells you more about the city.

It's a good oportunity to meet people and make new friends (especially if you are traveling alone) and learn more about the destination. I joined a bus tour in Japan which was great, but maybe I missed part of the fun because the guide and the travelers only spoke in japanese and was hard to understand everything.

Anyway, it was fun and now I am joining a tour to Dominican Republic, with a small diference: it's online.

Taptrip Tour
The red bus from Paris and the red bus from Taptrip are also very similar, right?

Via Taptrip App we can join virtual tours to many countries and they are very similar to the regular tours described above: there is a virtual bus and a local guide who uploads pictures and information about the place while the travelers can chat and know each other.

The app has an automatic translator, so even if the guide and the travelers speak a language different of ours, we can all understand each other.

So, next time you go abroad, join a bus tour. And next time you use your cell phone, join Taptrip. You will have much fun!

A tour in Jericoacoara, Brazil: who will save the princess from the golden city?

Jericoacoara golden city

Jericoacoara is located in the northeast of Brazil, South America, and it’s famous for the awesome beaches which attract many tourists, especially during the summer. But, what some people do not know is: there is a magical legend about Jericoacoara.

According to it, a princess lives in a golden city inside of a grotto. But there is a wall which obstructs her to leave that place. Furthermore, she was transformed in a monster which is half woman, half snake and awaits for a brave man who rescues her from there. When it happens, she will be transformed into a beautiful princess again, will marry this man and they will live in a golden palace forever.

http://www.tap-trip.com

Maybe you do not find this story in many guidebooks, but was easily found in a virtual tour from Taptrip!

And you can also enjoy Taptrip app as a guide or a traveler. If you decide to be a guide, you can make a virtual trip introduce your country to other users from the whole world, upload pictures and tell interesting stories as this legend from Jericoacoara in Brazil. If you decide to be a traveler, then you can enjoy virtual trips promoted by other guides.

Unfortunately this tour was finished and seems the princess was not rescued yet. But, don’t worry. Surely other tours to Brazil will be made soon, then you can join it and check more pictures and interesting stories.
